The UK-Canada negotiations for an upgraded trade agreement completed their first round in London recently. Round two will take place in Ottawa in the summer. They are expected to conclude by the end of the year. The BCC will shortly receive a full briefing from the UK negotiating team.
A reminder that Monday 2 May is the deadline for responses to the UK government call for input on An Independent Customs Regime. This covers topics such as the customs intermediary sector; the Simplified Customs Declaration Process (SCDP); and the Transit facilitation. February’s UK trade data was released by the Office for National Statistics on Monday. In terms of exports to the EU, a fall of 0.3% occurred between November 2021 and February 2022. Overall export performance remained broadly flat. Click here to see BCC’s comments on the data
