On 20 April, the Government launched the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Between launch and midnight on 21 April the number of claims received are as follows:
• 309,000 claims
• Covering 2.2m employees*
• Amounting to £2.6bn
* these are rounded figures and some people may be included more than once if they’ve been furloughed for more than one pay day or have more than one furloughed job.
For employers to get their payments by 30 April they needed to make a claim by midnight (Wednesday 22 April) however employers can apply here
