The Environment Agency has begun a recruitment process for three new Board members.
The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England. Our Board members make decisions on a wide range of critical environmental issues, from the regulation of waste, water, nuclear and carbon intensive industries, through to flood risk management.
This is a crucial time to join us. Last week Storm Babet brought record river levels and expansive flooding across the country, with many places receiving a month’s worth of rain in just 24 hours. Such storms are occurring more frequently and with greater severity. There is also unprecedented public interest in the state of our rivers, and the fight against waste crime is not far behind. Joining our Board is an opportunity to influence action on these critical challenges and help shape these for the future.
They are looking for three individuals to join our board who can question and challenge constructively, bring diverse views and see the opportunities to create better places for people and wildlife. We are especially keen to strengthen the board with candidates experienced in the following areas:
• finance, audit, accountancy
• digital transformation and/or innovation
• pensions
Please take a look at the advert for more information – applications close on the 13 November 2023. Their Chair Alan Lovell has also written a short blog on the roles here.
