West Lancashire Borough Council has announced measures to help those businesses affected by the Christmas and New Year floods. Firms who suffered as a result of the floods can apply for temporary business rates relief by contacting the council on 01695 587158 or by emailing business.rates@westlancsgov.uk.
Small and medium-sized businesses across Lancashire who were severely affected by the floods (either directly or indirectly) and who have up to 250 employees can apply for business support grants, details of which are available online at http://www.boostbusinesslancashire.co.uk/directory/flood-recovery-grant-scheme.aspx.
For assistance, businesses should contact Boost Business Lancashire on 0800 488 0057 but applications must be made by 28th February.
Farmers can also capitalise on a support scheme administered by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA); applications must be made by 1st April with details at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-the-farming-recovery-fund-frf.
