A donation from a Preston accountancy firm has enabled a local under-12s hockey side to purchase goalkeeping kits.
The award of £500 from the Rotherham Taylor Community Fund, launched by the firm earlier this year, to the Otters Under-12s mixed junior team at Preston Hockey Club has enabled the club to buy specialist kits for both girls and boys.
Nick Smith, a Director at Rotherham Taylor Limited, and Chloe Greenbank, a Senior Manager at the firm, visited the club to present the donation to the players and coaches.
Nick Smith said: “Taking part in sports clubs is a great way for young people to learn a range of skills including social skills and teamwork, as well as getting into the habit of taking part in physical activities from a young age.
“That is why we were pleased to be able to lend a hand to Preston Hockey Club and the Otters.
“It was great to be able to visit the club and meet some of the players and coaches. I know that this award will make an important difference to the club and help it continue its work in our local community.”
The award of £500 to the Otters Under-12s come shortly after the firm awarded more than £300 from its Community Fund to Cadley Football Club (Under-7s) to help it pay for training kits.
In the coming weeks, Rotherham Taylor Limited will announce the name of the latest group to benefit from its Community Fund.
