Dylan is studying a degree in Economics at Lancaster University. He was at a career fair and met some firms who were involved in Financial Planning, and thought it was an interesting career option. As a result, he researched adviser firms within the local area and asked to come and do work experience here at Amber River True Bearing. We asked Dylan about his experience during the week he spent with us.
“I wanted to complete my work experience at Amber River True Bearing because I was very interested in financial services. I wanted to learn about the inner workings of a financial planning firm. I was interested to see how a firm this size operates and how they manage a large client base.
During my time here, I got a good overview of all the different departments like admin, paraplanning and business development. It was interesting to see how these departments work and interact to provide a great service for clients. I spent some time in paraplanning, researching financial products, which I found interesting.
I particularly enjoyed learning about financial planning and how cash flow modelling can be used to support the process. I also learnt a lot about investing, risk profiling and the need for diversification.
Overall, it was an amazing experience with everyone being friendly, as well as knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and gave me helpful advice and information that I can use going forward. I would also like to say a big thank you to Darren for organising my work experience and giving me lots of knowledge about the firm and industry.”
