NHS workers will be able to travel completely free of charge on all Blackpool Transport bus services from Tuesday 31st March until further notice.
Bus services are running on a reduced-frequency to allow key workers and those who need to access essential services to get where they need to be.
The latest announcement will allow those working in the NHS to continue to do so with ease.
The decision to offer free travel for NHS workers has been reached collaboratively between Blackpool Transport and Blackpool Borough Council in order to help maintain essential services.
Jane Cole, Managing Director at Blackpool Transport said “We want to recognise the fantastic job that our NHS workers are doing during these testing times. We are committed to ensuring that all key workers can travel when it is vital to do so and we hope that by offering free travel to NHS workers, it may make life just that little bit easier”.
The local bus company have been praised on social media for their efforts in ensuring that key workers are able to reach their place of work, with bus drivers, who are key workers themselves, receiving particular praise.
NHS Staff should show their NHS pass when boarding the bus to qualify for free travel
