Benefit in kind rates for company cars and government grants are helping businesses transition to electric fleets and provide for their staff. Installing chargepoints can be beneficial for your business, in addition to the lower running costs and environmental benefits associated with EVs.
You can potentially claim 100% of the costs of installing an electric vehicle charging point as a capital allowance. Some of the expenditure may also qualify for the new super deduction, equating to a 130% enhanced deduction of the total cost.
The UK government can help with the installation of chargepoints. There are grants of up to £350 to cover the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint. Further grants, of up to £15,000, are available to small and medium sized businesses to help cover the cost of installing chargepoint infrastructure. To apply, businesses will need to have a Companies House or VAT number. See further information in the links below and share with your members as relevant.
