Where does Employment Law in 2022 leave us and where is it going in 2023?
With the last quarter of 2022 fast approaching, our next business briefing we focus on key developments arising out of recent case law and look at topics such as holiday pay, philosophical beliefs and bullying in the workplace.
We will also use the session to scan issues that are likely to be on the horizon as we move into 2023, including matters such as the long-awaited implementation of the Employment Bill, Neonatal Care Leave and Pay and Carers Leave.
The September Business Briefing we will be discussing key developments arising out of recent case law, specifically focusing on the main takeaways that employers need to be aware of.
Topics covered will include:-
Holiday pay – the recent case of Harpur Trust v Brazel sent shock waves through a number of sectors, including but not limited to recruitment, retail, health and social care, manufacturing and education, by drastically changing the holiday pay some many workers are entitled to.
Philosophical beliefs – in a raft of recent case law including Forstater v CGD Europe, the Employment Appeal Tribunal held that ‘gender-critical’ beliefs, including a belief that sex is immutable and should not be conflated with gender identity, are protected under the Equality Act 2010.
Bullying in the workplace – with no legal definition or specific prohibition against bullying in the workplace, cases in the Employment Tribunal are at an all-time high.
