The North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Role, is looking for 50 incredible women who want to do something different this year to celebrate International Women’s Day.
This International Women’s Day, the organisations are staging an event on March 8 (9am-2pm), looking for 50 senior female managers/directors/business owners to join them and sponsor one female student at Preston’s College.
The College will choose 50 students from across a variety of courses whom they know will benefit from a morning of motivation, communication, inspiration and mentoring.
During the morning, guests will hear from Lancashire women who have triumphed over adversity to achieve great things, while there will be a program of facilitated table debates as well as mini-mentoring and motivational sessions.
Interviews will be conducted with women from Lancashire who have become global successes as the younger delegates will not only be shown many great career opportunities on their doorstep, but also what they can achieve with the right attitude and support.
It is hoped that some fledgling mentoring relationships will be formed during the event which can then be supported by the Young Chamber Scheme & Job Junction, a local company dedicated to facilitating great relationships between business and education.
Wendy Bowers, Managing Director of Role, said: “Lancashire can offer its young a wealth of opportunities in careers as diverse as cosmetic medicine to Grammy winning audio technology; they can build global careers on their doorstep, they just need to us to tell them about it.”
“Everyone, in any walk of life, will have been influenced and inspired by someone to fulfil their dream,” added Babs Murphy, Chief Executive of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
“This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the students lucky enough to be chosen for a morning of listening and learning from some top business brains.
“It’s absolutely vital that everyone does what they can today to educate the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.”
Event sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are available for the event with further details available upon request.
The price is £50+VAT for members, £60+VAT for affiliate members and £70+VAT for non-members. That includes sponsorship of a student for the event and a hot buffet lunch.
