Children across the Fylde Coast have been given the chance to experience what it’s like to work in the world of professional football while gaining vital skills.
The innovative ‘Train Like a Pro’ football development programme was developed by AFC Fylde in partnership with Cuadrilla Resources and Centrica. Working alongside Layton Juniors, AFC Blackpool and local Kirkham schools, The Foundation has delivered an opportunity for children to get an insight into the football industry from those who live it every day.
AFC Fylde relies on support and donations from local businesses to carry out its work in the community – including Cuadrilla Resources and Centrica.
As part of ‘Train Like a Pro’, children from areas across the Fylde Coast have been selected to take part in workshops such as ‘Respect’, ‘Physiotherapy’, ‘Aspirations’ and ‘Diet and Nutrition’.
Francis Egan, Cuadrilla’s Chief Executive, said: “We are proud to have worked with these three local community football clubs on the Fylde Coast to deliver a fantastic package of physical training and learning opportunities for young people in the local area over the summer. As a keen football fan, it has been great to see the training in action and hear about the children’s experiences of this great community initiative.”
