Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth, entertained guests this week with a speech as part of the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce AGM.
He addressed those present at the annual business lunch, which followed on from the Chamber’s AGM at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel on Wednesday.
Educated at Eton, Lord Shuttleworth (pictured with Chamber vice president Dawn Cheetham and president Norman Tenray) was elected as fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was a director of Abbey National plc from 1996 to 2004.
He was appointed as Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire on 13th January 1997, since when he has served as a member of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster and been appointed Chairman of the Council, made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in addition to being made a Knight of St John.
“We were honoured to have the Lord Lieutenant address our guests,” said Babs Murphy, the Chamber’s chief executive.
“He’s led a fascinating life, one which – from the feedback we received – was of great interest to everyone who attended.”
