Writing a proper press release is one of the most affordable and effective forms of marketing and communication that a company can produce. However, writing the press release in a way that gets it picked up and distributed widely is an art in itself.
It is for that reason that we asked a former editor of The Gazette, Blackpool and a Lancashire Evening Post journalist to present a series of courses for Lancashire businesses in our area. We are delighted that David Helliwell of Helliwell Media (www.helliwellmedia.com) has joined the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and will start with our 30th November course “Writing Press Releases and Content For Media”.

“We have been searching for a media professional of David’s calibre to train our members in Press Releases and Media Relations for over a year now – we are delighted that he’s chosen to join the Chamber training team!” said Andrew Hamilton, Training Manager for the North & Western Chamber of Commerce.
Following a career in media that has seen him work across the North of England on newspapers, magazines, websites and social media, David Helliwell is returning to the Red Rose county to support businesses in promotion and communication.
He’s now working with SMEs, local authorities and start-ups in a range of media-related areas from training to public relations to crisis communications.
David said: “It’s amazing to me that so many businesses are hiding all that’s good about their employees, products and services. There are so many ways to engage with both mainstream and social media and the potential benefits of a raised profile are huge.
“Some organisations will spend huge amounts on advertising, or over-complicated marketing plans, but they neglect promotion of their business in a really cost-effective way.”
“I’m really looking forward to meeting some Lancashire businesses and using my experience of media to help them take that step forward.”
