The North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is delighted to appoint Nick Hyde as its new Policy Manager.
Nick moves from his recent role as Business Engagement Officer for the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) to take up the position.
For the past 10 months, Nick has been part of the LSIP team, engaging with hundreds of businesses across Lancashire, as well as stakeholders and education providers to produce a detailed report on the state of skills and recruitment provision in the county.
He will now be responsible for engaging with Lancashire businesses and decision-makers, finding out what issues are affecting them and using the Chamber to lobby on their behalf. He will also be representing the organisation at a number of events and help drive forward future policy initiatives.
Nick said: “I am excited to become the new Policy Manager at the Chamber and look forward to meeting and working with the members. I am passionate about business and the positive benefits that its success can bring to both members and the wider community in which we live and work with.
“I understand that working in an environment that is constantly changing can be both challenging and exciting. The way we embrace these changes will define our future, especially at such a critical time for Lancashire businesses.
“My main focus at the Chamber will be to listen to the much-valued members as much as I can and then drive policy to ensure that their voices are heard at the highest level.”
Babs Murphy, Chief Executive of the NWLCC, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Nick as our new Policy Manager. He brings a wealth of experience with him from his work with LSIP and background as a business journalist which will prove invaluable when promoting the needs of Chamber members to our local politicians and policy makers.
“We face a number of challenges in the coming months but I know Nick will be out there speaking up for the needs of Lancashire businesses and I wish him well in his new role with us”
