The three core functions that drive everything that the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce does are: Promote, Support, and Represent businesses and organisations in Lancashire. We consistently get behind other organisations that serve this same 3-fold aspiration. One of these organisations is Preston BID.
The accomplishments of this team in recent years are really quite remarkable. Anyone who has attended a “Hang Out” to promote Winckley Square development know how popular and well-attended BID events have been – drawing over 700,000 from around Lancashire and beyond!
These BID events have played a major role in tangible support for the businesses of Preston City Centre, increasing footfall in the area by roughly 18% which in turn, encourages investment in the commercial district which has a significant part to play in garnering £1.5 million in public funding for the area!
The list of promoting and supporting City Centre organisations is quite a lengthy one, but one of the most impressive is the representation for the community which secured increased funding for CCTV via City Council funding and lobbying and advocating for issues affecting Preston City Centre organisations like begging, pest control, and congestion due to “shared space” initiatives.
Its good to know that the Preston BID team is on task with the best interests of City Centre, I would hate to imagine what might have become of industry in Preston had they not taken an active role in promoting, supporting, and representing these great businesses and organisations! This is exactly what we at the NWL Chamber of Commerce stand for and our hat is off to them!
