ROI Solutions at Preston’s College has been shortlisted for the Skills Provider of the Year award at the prestigious Red Rose Awards 2016.
The application focused on how the training provider spent 12 months visiting businesses across Lancashire to listen to the challenges they face when recruiting skilled staff, the strain on training budgets, the barriers to growth and the Lancashire economy.
Another finding was that employers will now employ someone based on attitude, experience and ability, rather than for the qualifications they have.
“As a result, ROI Solutions has remodelled its curriculum to help bridge the skills gap between education and industry,” a spokesman said.
“This has been complemented with new, multi-million pound Real Work Environments including the iSTEM Centre and a live construction site on campus, run alongside the Eric Wright Learning Foundation.
“ROI Solutions has also enhanced its range of Apprenticeships, bespoke training packages, CPD programmes, eLearning and Higher Education courses to help make learners become the most employable.”
Meanwhile, Preston’s College has also sponsored the 2016 Innovation Award which asks employers how they have demonstrated innovation in people, products or processes which has contributed to the success of the business.
